The Children's Home was established in 2004 for children in need. Our vision is to care for those who have been abandoned, neglected or abused and to faciliate the necessary change for a brighter future.

Each child becomes part of a caring family environment in order to prepare them for their future. Children are accepted from birth until the age of 14. All the children attend the local school. They have a chance of an education that was previously unattainable in their previous circumstances.

Currently there are 28 children living in the Shepherd's Arm's Children's Home. We will be adding an extension to the home shortly to cater for the increasing number of children needing a home. Many thanks to all of you who have contributed financially to this ministry.

Top: Every child has their own bed but most of the children still prefer to sleep on the floor! Next photo: Jaime learning to write. Middle:We recently painted the home and it's looking bright and cheerful! Bottom:Lulu and the kids cooking dinner and enjoying a meal. Last few photos: The children look after the pigs and chickens and they also help out with planting veges. Here you see the kids planting a banana tree; Franklin carrying a bunch of bananas and some of the children preparing cassava for cooking.

Right:The children were using this van but as the number of children living in the home grew the poor van couldn't cope, so after several burst tyres and broken suspensions we were able to purchase a more solid jeepney thanks to some very generous donations. See Latest News to see a photo of the jeepney we've purchased.

How can you help?

You could sponsor a child for $NZ30.00 per month. If you would like to do this, send us an email and we will contact you with further details. The children write to their sponsors regularly to let them know what's happening in their lives. And of course you're always welcome to come and visit!
Thank you for making a difference in the life of a child.

Email: The Children's Home.
